Is reveal and seal (water based) the best choice for sealing an outdoor patio that has flagstone layed on top of concrete? If so, do we have to buff it afterwards? I have 200 sq feet, is a gallon enough?
Or, do you recommend another sealer? Our goal is to have an enriched, wet look with a water based sealer. We heard water based sealers will not yellow the stone over time.
    thanks

      Carrie,

It depends on the look you are trying to achieve. Reveal and seal will darken the substrate, but will not add gloss. It is a penetrating sealer. Our Barrier EXT is designed for outdoor stone if gloss is desired, but it is a topical sealer. If it is near an area that will get wet, you should use caution before deciding to apply Barrier or broadcast some of our honing powder (hone 150) after applying to help reduce the slip of the surface.

You will have to buff up the excess with Reveal & Seal before it dries on the surface of the flagstone or it can be slippery. Whether a sealer yellows or not does not have anything to do with the fact that it is water or solvent based, it is more due to the lack of UV inhibitors present in the product. Penetrating sealers do not yellow, but topical sealers can (especially acrylic based) if they are not formulated correctly. Our Barrier EXT is designed to be strong and durable in the outdoor conditions without yellowing.

Feel free to call to discuss it further.
